Gangapur City district: which district is it in now?

If you are searching "Gangapur City kis jile me hai", here is the short answer, and what changed for people living there.

Short answer

Gangapur City is no longer a district. The Gangapur City area is back in Sawai Madhopur district, and Gangapur, Bamanwas and Wazeerpur tehsils are in Sawai Madhopur today. Todabhim and Nadoti tehsils are in Karauli district.

What happened

Gangapur City was one of the 17 new districts Rajasthan created in August 2023. On 28 December 2024 the state cabinet decided not to keep it, and the order of 30 December 2024 abolished it along with eight other new districts. Its tehsils went back to the district they had come from.

Tehsils of the area and their district today

This is the position in the Local Government Directory (LGD) as of October 2026.

| Tehsil | District today |

| Gangapur | Sawai Madhopur |

| Bamanwas | Sawai Madhopur |

| Wazeerpur | Sawai Madhopur |

| Todabhim | Karauli |

| Nadoti | Karauli |

Sawai Madhopur and Karauli are both in the Bharatpur division. If you live in the Todabhim or Nadoti area, your district headquarters is Karauli.

Your offices and papers

Collectorate work, such as arms licences, district-level certificates and appeals, now goes to the District Collector of Sawai Madhopur (or of Karauli for the Todabhim and Nadoti area). Day-to-day revenue work stays at your tehsil, and panchayat matters at your Panchayat Samiti. Sawai Madhopur district is in the Bharatpur division.

Certificates, land records and other papers issued while the area was in the old district remain valid; you don't need to get them reissued. New applications go to the offices of the current district. On portals, choose the current district from the list.

Panchayat elections

In the 2026 panchayat election, villages of the former Gangapur City district vote for the Zila Parishad of the district they are in today, Sawai Madhopur or Karauli. Your Sarpanch, ward panch and Panchayat Samiti member are elected as usual; see panchayat elections 2026.
