Work and livelihood

As in most of rural Bihar, people around Imadpur live mainly off farming (wheat, maize and pulses such as lentil in the Rabi season, paddy or maize in the Kharif season, depending on the area), along with dairy and job guarantee wage work. Since July 2026 that’s VB-G RAM G, which replaced MGNREGA: a household with a job card from the gram panchayat can get at least 125 days of paid work a year. Farmers can sign up for PM-KISAN and a Kisan Credit Card through the block agriculture office or a Common Service Centre.

Administration

Imadpur Gram Panchayat is run by an elected Mukhiya (village head), an Up-Mukhiya and ward members. Every adult voter in the panchayat’s villages is a member of the Gram Sabha. The Panchayat Secretary, posted by Barsoi block, keeps the day-to-day records and registers births and deaths.

Every gram panchayat in Bihar has to form 6 committees: Planning, Co-ordination and Finance Committee (chaired by the Mukhiya), Production Committee, Social Justice Committee, Education Committee, Public Health, Family Welfare and Rural Sanitation Committee and Public Works Committee. The Gram Sabha has to meet at least once every three months. It goes over the accounts and approves the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), which is then uploaded on eGramSwaraj. Any voter of the village can attend and ask questions.

How Imadpur scores on the Panchayat Advancement Index

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj's Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI 2.0) gives every gram panchayat a score from 0 to 100 on nine themes of the Localised Sustainable Development Goals. It uses about 150 indicators that panchayats report and block and district officials check.

PAI score
48.9/1002023-24ReportedPanchayat Advancement Index (PAI 2.0)

In the Panchayat Advancement Index 2023-24, Imadpur scored 48.9 out of 100, ranking 19th of 27 panchayats in Barsoi block (slightly behind the block average of 50.5). 2023-24ReportedPanchayat Advancement Index (PAI 2.0)

That puts it in the "Aspirant" band (Achiever 90+, Front Runner 75–90, Performer 60–75, Aspirant 40–60, Beginner below 40).

Scores on the nine development themes

Poverty-free and enhanced livelihoods59.7

Water-sufficient panchayat42.3
Clean and green panchayat39.7
Self-sufficient infrastructure43.3
Socially just and secured65.5
Good governance65.8
Women-friendly panchayat45.1

Imadpur does best on “Good governance” (65.8) and worst on “Child-friendly panchayat” (38.2). That 28-point gap shows where the next Gram Panchayat Development Plan could focus. 4 of the nine theme scores are above the Barsoi block average. 2023-24ReportedPanchayat Advancement Index (PAI 2.0)
