About Dighri Gram Panchayat

Dighri (दिघरी) is a Gram Panchayat (village council) in Korha block of Katihar district, Bihar. Land and revenue work goes through Korha anchal (circle), and the district is part of the Purnia Division. Its Local Government Directory (LGD) code is 96579.

Dighri Gram Panchayat covers 2 revenue villages: Dighrisalempur and Hariharpur. Voters from all of them make up one Gram Sabha and elect one Mukhiya.

The Mukhiya and the panchayat secretary are your first contacts for the family register, birth and death records and MGNREGA (now VB-G RAM G) job cards. Income, caste and residence certificates come from Korha anchal; the steps are in the citizen services section below.

Work and livelihood

As in most of rural Bihar, people around Dighri live mainly off farming (wheat, maize and pulses such as lentil in the Rabi season, paddy or maize in the Kharif season, depending on the area), along with dairy and job guarantee wage work. Since July 2026 that’s VB-G RAM G, which replaced MGNREGA: a household with a job card from the gram panchayat can get at least 125 days of paid work a year. Farmers can sign up for PM-KISAN and a Kisan Credit Card through the block agriculture office or a Common Service Centre.

Administration

Under the Bihar Panchayat Raj Act, 2006, Dighri is run by its elected Mukhiya, the Up-Mukhiya and the ward members. The Gram Sabha, made up of all adult voters, approves the yearly plan and the list of scheme beneficiaries. The Panchayat Secretary sent by the Korha block office keeps the family register, the accounts and the birth and death register.

Every gram panchayat in Bihar has to form 6 committees: Planning, Co-ordination and Finance Committee (chaired by the Mukhiya), Production Committee, Social Justice Committee, Education Committee, Public Health, Family Welfare and Rural Sanitation Committee and Public Works Committee. The Gram Sabha has to meet at least once every three months. It goes over the accounts and approves the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), which is then uploaded on eGramSwaraj. Any voter of the village can attend and ask questions.

Dighri Mukhiya, MLA and MP

We haven’t yet verified the name of the current Mukhiya of this panchayat. The official sources are the State Election Commission results and the panchayat’s profile on eGramSwaraj. If you are the Mukhiya, the secretary or a resident, send the name and contact with the form at the end of this page, and we’ll add it once it’s checked.

A Mukhiya is elected for five years. The Mukhiya calls Gram Sabha meetings, decides with the panchayat how 15th Finance Commission and State Finance Commission grants are spent on drains, lanes, hand pumps, street lights and similar works, and recommends people for pensions, housing and ration cards.
