Work and livelihood
As in most of rural Rajasthan, people around Kumpaliya live mainly off farming (wheat, mustard, gram and barley in the Rabi season, bajra, guar, moong, moth or groundnut in the Kharif season, depending on the area), along with dairy and job guarantee wage work. Since July 2026 that’s VB-G RAM G, which replaced MGNREGA: a household with a job card from the gram panchayat can get at least 125 days of paid work a year. Farmers can sign up for PM-KISAN and a Kisan Credit Card through the block agriculture office or a Common Service Centre.
Administration
Kumpaliya Gram Panchayat is run by an elected Sarpanch (village head), an Up-Sarpanch and ward members. Every adult voter in the panchayat’s villages is a member of the Gram Sabha. The Gram Vikas Adhikari (VDO), posted by Gira block, keeps the day-to-day records and registers births and deaths.
Every gram panchayat in Rajasthan has to form 5 committees: Administration and Establishment Committee (chaired by the Sarpanch), Finance and Taxation Committee, Development and Production Programmes Committee (farming, animal husbandry, minor irrigation and allied work), Education Committee and Social Services and Social Justice Committee (water supply, health, sanitation). The Gram Sabha has to meet at least twice a year, once in the first and once in the last quarter of the financial year. It goes over the accounts and approves the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), which is then uploaded on eGramSwaraj. Any voter of the village can attend and ask questions.
