About Kamhariya Gram Panchayat

Kamhariya (कम्हरिया) is a Gram Panchayat (village council) in Jahangir Ganj block of Ambedkar Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh. Land and revenue work goes through Allapur tehsil, and the district is part of the Ayodhya Division. Its Local Government Directory (LGD) code is 46010.

It has just one revenue village, Kamhariya, so every adult voter of Kamhariya is a member of the Gram Sabha.

Kamhariya is one of the 107 gram panchayats in Jahangir Ganj block. The whole of Ambedkar Nagar district has 927. Voters here elect their MLA from the Alapur assembly constituency and their MP from the Sant Kabir Nagar Lok Sabha constituency.

The Gram Pradhan and the panchayat secretary are your first contacts for the family register, birth and death records and MGNREGA (now VB-G RAM G) job cards. Income, caste and residence certificates come from Allapur tehsil; the steps are in the citizen services section below.

Ambedkar Nagar district’s One District One Product (ODOP) is Textile products. If you work in this trade in Kamhariya, you can apply at the District Industries Centre for ODOP margin-money loans, training and toolkits.

As in most of rural Uttar Pradesh, people around Kamhariya live mainly off farming (wheat, mustard and pulses in the Rabi season, paddy, maize or sugarcane in the Kharif season, depending on the area), along with dairy and job guarantee wage work. Since July 2026 that’s VB-G RAM G, which replaced MGNREGA: a household with a job card from the gram panchayat can get at least 125 days of paid work a year. Farmers can sign up for PM-KISAN and a Kisan Credit Card through the block agriculture office or a Common Service Centre.

Administration

Under the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1947, Kamhariya is run by its elected Gram Pradhan, the Up-Pradhan and the ward members. The Gram Sabha, made up of all adult voters, approves the yearly plan and the list of scheme beneficiaries. The Panchayat Secretary (Gram Panchayat Adhikari) sent by the Jahangir Ganj block office keeps the Parivar Register (family register), the accounts and the birth and death register.

Every gram panchayat in Uttar Pradesh has to form 6 committees: Planning and Development Committee (chaired by the Pradhan), Education Committee, Construction Works Committee, Health and Welfare Committee, Administrative Committee and Water Management Committee. The Gram Sabha has to meet at least twice a year (after the Kharif and Rabi harvests). It goes over the accounts and approves the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), which is then uploaded on eGramSwaraj. Any voter of the village can attend and ask questions.
