Work and livelihood

As in most of rural Rajasthan, people around Sawantsar live mainly off farming (wheat, mustard, gram and barley in the Rabi season, bajra, guar, moong, moth or groundnut in the Kharif season, depending on the area), along with dairy and job guarantee wage work. Since July 2026 that’s VB-G RAM G, which replaced MGNREGA: a household with a job card from the gram panchayat can get at least 125 days of paid work a year. Farmers can sign up for PM-KISAN and a Kisan Credit Card through the block agriculture office or a Common Service Centre.

Administration

Sawantsar Gram Panchayat is run by an elected Sarpanch (village head), an Up-Sarpanch and ward members. Every adult voter in the panchayat’s villages is a member of the Gram Sabha. The Gram Vikas Adhikari (VDO), posted by Rajiyasar block, keeps the day-to-day records and registers births and deaths.

Every gram panchayat in Rajasthan has to form 5 committees: Administration and Establishment Committee (chaired by the Sarpanch), Finance and Taxation Committee, Development and Production Programmes Committee (farming, animal husbandry, minor irrigation and allied work), Education Committee and Social Services and Social Justice Committee (water supply, health, sanitation). The Gram Sabha has to meet at least twice a year, once in the first and once in the last quarter of the financial year. It goes over the accounts and approves the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), which is then uploaded on eGramSwaraj. Any voter of the village can attend and ask questions.

Sawantsar Sarpanch, MLA and MP

We haven’t yet verified the name of the current Sarpanch of this panchayat. The official sources are the State Election Commission results and the panchayat’s profile on eGramSwaraj. If you are the Sarpanch, the secretary or a resident, send the name and contact with the form at the end of this page, and we’ll add it once it’s checked.

A Sarpanch is elected for five years. The Sarpanch calls Gram Sabha meetings, decides with the panchayat how 15th Finance Commission and State Finance Commission grants are spent on drains, lanes, hand pumps, street lights and similar works, and recommends people for pensions, housing and ration cards.

Your MLA speaks for the area in the state assembly and can recommend roads, school buildings and similar works from the MLA Local Area Development fund. Your MP speaks for it in the Lok Sabha and can recommend works under MPLADS.

Panchayat elections

Sawantsar voted for its ward members and Sarpanch on 5 November 2026, in phase 3 of the panchayat election, and the votes were counted the same day. We'll add the result here once the State Election Commission publishes it. 2026ReportedRajasthan State Election Commission

How Sawantsar scores on the Panchayat Advancement Index

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj's Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI 2.0) gives every gram panchayat a score from 0 to 100 on nine themes of the Localised Sustainable Development Goals. It uses about 150 indicators that panchayats report and block and district officials check.
